What real community leadership actually looks like

There's a version of leadership that looks impressive from the outside — polished content, a growing audience, a packed calendar. And then there's leadership that actually sustains you. These two things are not always the same.

At How To Be Social, we've been sitting with this tension for a while. As a health and wellness community built for creative entrepreneurs, we see it constantly: brilliant, big-hearted people building incredible things — and slowly burning out trying to do it the "right" way.

Which is exactly why we're bringing a room full of leaders together to talk about it honestly.

The question we keep coming back to:

What does it actually mean to lead a community — not manage one, not perform one — but genuinely lead it? The answer, we're finding, always comes back to a few non-negotiables: structure, grace, love, and real human connection.

Easy to say. Much harder to live. Especially when you're also trying to build a business, stay healthy, show up for the people around you, and not lose yourself in the process.

An audience follows you. A community grows with you.

That distinction matters more than most people realize. An audience is built around a personality or a platform. A community is built around shared values and genuine belonging. One can be constructed quickly. The other takes time, intention, and a willingness to be honest — even when it's uncomfortable.

What we'll be exploring together:

This panel isn't a presentation. It's a real conversation — the kind you don't always get to have in public. Here are some of the threads we're pulling on:

What does healthy leadership look like in creative communities today — and why does it so rarely get talked about?

How do you hold people accountable without losing the warmth that made them want to be there in the first place?

How do you protect the energy and culture of something you've built as it grows — and grows fast?

What's the honest relationship between wellness and entrepreneurship — and why do so many of us treat our health as optional?

How do you make real money while staying aligned with your values — without one slowly eroding the other?

Why now?

Creative entrepreneurship is having a moment. More people than ever are building communities, launching brands, and betting on themselves. And that's genuinely exciting. But there's also more noise, more pressure, and more ways to measure yourself against someone else's highlight reel than ever before.

We think the antidote isn't a better strategy. It's a better foundation — one built on clarity about who you are, what you're building, and why it matters. That's what this panel is really about.

You can't pour from empty. But you also can't lead from a script.

Whether you're just starting out or you've been building for years, there's something grounding about being in a room with people who are asking the same questions — and honest enough to admit they don't always have the answers.

Come as you are

We want people to leave this event feeling inspired, yes — but more than that, grounded. Connected. A little more sure of themselves and the work they're doing in the world.

You don't need to have it figured out to be in this room. You just need to be building something with intention — and willing to grow.

That's the whole point of How To Be Social. Education, community, growth — not as buzzwords, but as a way of living.

We'll see you there. 🤍
